Puppy Socialization
The puppies at Naibara Kennel start their socialization and training at three days of age. From day three to day 16 we provide them with Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), a program developed by Dr. Carmen Battaglia, for the U.S. military canine program to improve the performance and stress tolerance of dogs. It includes five simple but impactful exercises: tactile stimulation, head held erect, head pointed downwards, supine position, thermal stimulation. The goal of the program is to impact the neurological system by kicking it into action earlier than would be normally expected. The result being an increased capacity that later will help to make the difference in a dog’s well-being. Specifically, ENS results in benefits including improved cardiovascular performance (heart rate); stronger heart beats; stronger adrenal glands; more tolerance to stress; and greater resistance to disease.
Following the ENS program, we then begin with the Puppy Culture protocols, which are carried out on each puppy individually. These protocols, which guides the puppy through two fear stages, continues until 12 weeks of age. It uses age-appropriate challenges, and emotional resilience exercises to help puppies grow into confident and stable adult dogs. In doing so it can stop future problems like aggression, resource guarding, and fearfulness before they start. In the end, it gives buyers a well-adjusted, well-socialised, and confident puppy ready for home life, regardless of its future lifestyle.
